According to an article by Susan Serbin in this week's Delaware County News Network, Ridley School Board approved field testing a reading program that will individualize reading instruction for all its 3rd graders. The program combines personalized learning plans from eSparks with Let's Go Learn's reading diagnostic assessment. Based on the performance data from DORA, our reading diagnostic assessment, teachers can choose a personalized program, consisting of videos, apps, challenges, and assessments. “With the implementation of these personalized learning plans, the teacher will be able to monitor student progress, review work and identify opportunities for intervention and celebration,” according to LuAnn Crosby, Director of Curriculum and Development. Serbin sums up the decision to fund the program: "In general, districts, teachers and students benefit from any available tools which aid in individualized learning, and ready children for the array of state-mandated testing throughout the year."
