LGL: How many children are you homeschooling?
Nancy: We are homeschooling 2 of our 3 sons, ages 9 and 11.
LGL: Why did you choose the LGL Reading Assessment?
Nancy: I’ve been looking at a number of testing options. When I reviewed this assessment, I was impressed with the thorough evaluation and report that were promised (and came)! and the reasonable cost….so we can afford follow up testing as well.
LGL: How did your sons like the assessment?
Nancy: Thanks for asking. They loved it! It was concise. The directions were easy for the children to understand. The monkey giving the instructions at every page was cute, but not too childish. Finally, when they reached a point of too much difficulty the test moved to the next section, thereby avoiding frustration and keeping confidence high throughout. I appreciated the feature that these wiggly boys could take a break as needed and come back at a later time and pick up right where they left off.
LGL: How are you going to use the information that the assessment provided you?
Nancy: Already the results have helped us restructure our emphasis on phonics based on each child’s priority needs and the report pages suggest practical steps to helping correct areas of weakness. I had been stalling on a new reading curriculum choice and the test results helped me zero in on just the right instructional material based on the specific test report results.
Nancy: In summary, I want to thank you for offering this useful tool! Both Mom and Dad love reading and we want our children to enjoy it for the rest of their lives. But they were struggling. You helped us identify and tackle vague hurdles that hindered a love of reading and the effective teaching of phonics. Thank you.
