The Gates-MacGinitie Reading Test (GMRT) is a leveled reading test, which, although it claims to be diagnostic, only offers assessment items at one grade level per administration. At the Pre-Reading (PR) level, it assesses Literacy Concepts, Oral Language Concepts, Letter-Sound Recognition, and Listening Comprehension. The Beginning Reading (BR) level assesses decoding skills. Levels 1 & 2 assess Word Knowledge and Comprehension, while all remaining levels assess Vocabulary and Comprehension. While the test can be administered and scored online, unlike DORA it is not an adaptive test, and is still limited to the grade level being administered.
