Benchmark assessments based on specific state standards. Lessons attempt to teach specific benchmark by drilling. Doesn't diagnose fundamental reading or math profile of student. Company advertises themselves as being diagnostic and driving differentiated instruction. However, this is false. It really is test prep. If this is what a school wants it does a good job at it. However, for students who are remedial and in need of actual remediation, Study Island won't fit the bill. Study Island has grown enormously over the past few years but this is a reflection of schools seeking short-term boost by pursuing test prep and them being the first of the test prep products to go online. Instruction is simple giving students lots of test question practice.
