1.0 Getting Started With Assessments - Step by Step Instructions

Assessments can be administered every 10-12 weeks and take about 60 minutes to complete.  Assessments can be taken in multiple sittings but should be completed within one to two weeks to ensure valid data.  BEFORE administering the assessment, take the following steps:

  1. Go to http://www.letsgolearn.com
  1. Enter your teacher login/password (See 3.1.2).
  2. Add students, if necessary.  Click on the <Class> tab and hit the “Add new student” button to enter your class list. (See 3.1.1 for further details and recommendations).
  3. Queue up an assessment for each student individually or for an entire class (See 3.1.7 and 3.1.8).
  4. Print off student login/password data or create index cards for each student.  (See 3.1.3).
  5. Perform a system check (see 3.2.2), plug headphones into all computers and check the volume.
  6. Bookmark http://www.letsgolearn.com on all student computers so that when students enter the lab they only need to click on the link rather than entering in the entire web address.
  7. We recommend that you first try the assessment out yourself so that you know what to expect.  Enter a grade and date of birth appropriate for one of your students in order to view the interface they will be seeing.
  8. On the day of the assessment, it is VERY important that you convey to your students that they are doing an “assessment” or “very important activity” and that they need to concentrate and do their best.  See the scripts on the document “Using Let's Go Learn in the Lab or Classroom” (See Appendix E, F, G, H).
  9. Students will see a rewards animation page on completion of the assessment.
  10. Reports and scores are immediately available once a student has completed the assessment. To view reports, enter your teacher login/password and click on the <DORA> or <DOMA> tab (See 2.0).
  11. If your school or organization licensed one of the optional instructional products, online instruction will become available immediately following completion of the assessment. Have students log back in and they will see a new instructional activity icon (see 4.0 for more details about the instruction programs)
  12. As a supplement to DORA, we provide a paper-and-pencil oral reading fluency sub-test.(See Appendix D for more information.)
