4.2.1 Getting Started with Unique Reader (K-5 reading)

Instruction Hints & Tips:-

  • Lesson plans are created for each student based on his or her most recent assessment scores.
  • Unique Reader has four tracks:-  Sight Words, Phonics, Vocabulary and Comprehension.
  • Students work on the lesson plan created for them or teachers can easily change the lessons.
  • To change lessons, go to the ‘UReader’ tab from within your teacher account.
    • Choose the lesson number you wish the student to perform.
    • Enter the new lesson number in the white box in the line with the student's name.
    • Click on “Change Lesson” in the “Change Current Lesson” column.
  • Student Log:  This log details the date, lesson number, component and graded review score for each student.  In the column “Student Log” click on “detail” for each student.
  • View Lessons:  All lessons can be viewed by teachers to enable them to become familiar with the Unique Reader program.  To view these lessons:-
    • On the <UReader> page, select the word “List” for the track you wish to view.  “List” is found under the heading for each track.
    • In the “Components of each Lesson” column, click on the lesson you wish to view.  This will show you the exact lesson a student will be given.
  • Unique Reader Usage:  Teachers can monitor which students are using Unique Reader by running an usage report for a class of students (See 2.10).
