1.0 Getting Started With Assessments - Step by Step Instructions
Assessments can be administered every 10-12 weeks and take about 60 minutes to complete. Assessments can be taken in multiple sittings but should be completed within one to two weeks to ensure valid data. BEFORE administering the assessment, take the following steps:
Add students, if necessary. Click on the <Class> tab and hit the “Add new student” button to enter your class list. (See 3.1.1 for further details and recommendations).
Queue up an assessment for each student individually or for an entire class (See 3.1.7 and 3.1.8).
Print off student login/password data or create index cards for each student. (See 3.1.3).
Perform a system check (see 3.2.2), plug headphones into all computers and check the volume.
Bookmark http://www.letsgolearn.com on all student computers so that when students enter the lab they only need to click on the link rather than entering in the entire web address.
We recommend that you first try the assessment out yourself so that you know what to expect. Enter a grade and date of birth appropriate for one of your students in order to view the interface they will be seeing.
On the day of the assessment, it is VERY important that you convey to your students that they are doing an “assessment” or “very important activity” and that they need to concentrate and do their best. See the scripts on the document “Using Let's Go Learn in the Lab or Classroom” (See Appendix E, F, G, H).
Students will see a rewards animation page on completion of the assessment.
Reports and scores are immediately available once a student has completed the assessment. To view reports, enter your teacher login/password and click on the <DORA> or <DOMA> tab (See 2.0).
If your school or organization licensed one of the optional instructional products, online instruction will become available immediately following completion of the assessment. Have students log back in and they will see a new instructional activity icon (see 4.0 for more details about the instruction programs)
As a supplement to DORA, we provide a paper-and-pencil oral reading fluency sub-test.(See Appendix D for more information.)
1.1 How Students Take An Assessment
Before testing day, administrators will have performed the system checks and ensured the appropriate assessment is queued up for each student (see 1.0 Getting Started with Assessments).
Students will take the following steps:-

Click on the green ‘Student Login’ button.
Enter their student login, password (and school code if used by your school district).
Select the appropriate assessment eg, DORA or DOMA Basic Math Skills etc.
Ensure the head phones volume is set to an appropriate level.
Ensure they have scratch paper and pencil (recommended for math assessments).
Hit the “GO” button when ready to start the assessment.
If a student needs to take a break the ‘STOP’ button can be clicked on at any time.
To re-start the assessment, the student will follow steps 2-4 again.
On completion of the assessment, teachers have immediate access to all data/scores.
1.2 Reassessing Students

8.0 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
How long does an assessment take?
The length of time an assessment takes to be completed varies from student to student, but in general, 60 minutes of lab time should be allowed. Some students will complete the assessment in as little as 35 minutes, while others may take as long as 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Does the assessment need to be given in one session?
No, the assessment can be stopped at any time and will be picked up exactly where the student left off. We recommend that assessments be completed within one to two weeks.
How frequently should the assessment be administered?
We recommend that 10-12 weeks of instruction time is allowed between assessments to allow sufficient time for a student's skills to grow.
Can I access reports immediately after a student has completed an assessment?
Yes, all scores and reports are available immediately after a student has completed the assessment.
Is there a report that can show the growth an individual student has made?
Yes, teachers can compare up to three scores for a student in a gain chart (See 2.2).
Do I always have access to previous test scores for my students?
Yes, previous test scores and detailed reports are always available (See 2.2).
How do I find out about other programs LGL offers?
Are there any documents validating the research behind LGL?
Yes, we have many documents supporting and validating our programs. Go to http://www.letsgolearn.com under “Educators” and then “Educators Resources” or your local account manager can provide you with additional documentation and case studies.
Is the assessment the same each time?
We have multiple passages per grade level and many banks of questions. If students are making steady progress, they should not be given the same questions. Please go to http://www.letsgolearn.com to view the DORA/DOMA Specifications document under “Educators” and “Educators Resources.”
How does a student access the instructional program?
On completion of the appropriate assessment, students will be able to access the instructional program. If students are unable to log in to their program, check the following:-
Students have completed an entire assessment and are not marked “in progress” on the scores page.
Students should NOT have a new assessment queued up for them on the class page (See 3.1.7 and 3.1.8 for more details on queuing up assessments).
How does the adaptive logic work?
Powered by the OAASIS (Online Adaptive Assessment System for Individual Students) platform, Let's Go Learn's reading and math assessment solutions adapt to students as they respond to each question, getting harder or easier as needed to complete the diagnosis. Start levels vary depending on the age of the user, and elementary, middle, and high school graphical interfaces exist in order to engage students of all ages. Assessments continue until each individual's ceiling of performance is reached on each sub-skill.
Why do I still see last year's students on my class page?
At the start of a new school year, you will most likely have a new set of students you are working with. You can close last year's class by clicking on the 'Add/Edit Class' button on your <CLASS> tab and 'check to close' the appropriate classes. This will remove that class of students from your <CLASS> tab but will allow you to open up that class at any time if you wish to review data.
When do I deactivate a student?
You should only deactivate a student when that student has moved out of your school district entirely. To remove a student from your class but allow them to remain in your school roster so other teachers can work with them, remove the student from your class page. To do this, go to your <CLASS> tab, click on 'Edit Profile' for that student, remove student from all classes, click on 'update student'.
What do I do at the start of the new school year if I am an existing customer?
If you are part of a district wide deployment, your administrators will work with Let's Go Learn to reassign students to their new teachers and add any students who are new to your district.
If you are not part of a district wide deployment, you should add any students who are completely new to your school or who have not used Let's Go Learn programs in the past. Teachers should go to the "All Student Roster" to find their new students and pull them into their individual classes. Refer to 6.0 Start of the New School Year in the Online User Guide or check out the virtual tour.
How do I add a new teacher to my account?
Either as an Administrator or a teacher, log into your account, click on the <MANAGE> tab and "edit teacher roster". Add "First Name", "Last Name", Login (email address preferred) and password. Click on 'Add New Teacher'.
If you are part of a large district wide deployment, check with your administrator first as they may be working with Let's Go Learn to set up your account for you.
