How does your school use Let’s Go Learn?
Hi, my name is Lisa Costello and I’m the Principal of Desert Christian Middle School and we started using Let’s Go Learn—I believe it was in 2021. We were looking for a way to be able to measure our students, especially their reading and their math abilities coming out of COVID. And it has been so instrumental in seeing student progress. We love the fact that you can retest students. So we test at the beginning of the school year midway through and the end of the school year. So we’re able to see real growth in our student body. What I also love about Let’s Go Learn is it helps us with our math placement and our English placement. We have advanced classes for English and four with three levels of math. And so we’re able to make sure our classes are designed for students of the same ability levels. For instance, with math, we know the students that are struggling with fractions. And so all the students that are struggling with fractions would be in the same math class. And then we do supplemental instruction in fractions and then we can retest them and really be able to tell if that instruction is working. It’s really, it’s instrumental over a standardized test, which we also do those as well because you can retest kids so you can control the environment if they’re nervous and you’re, and they didn’t that test and not totally reflect what you’re seeing in the classroom. Teachers are able to have them retest. So I love the ability that it’s fluid. We also use it for entry exams. So as students are coming from other schools, we don’t know exactly what an “a” in their school is versus an “a” in our school. So we’re able to use that as a placement test. We’re also able about a month and a half into them coming to our school retesting to see how accurate those test scores were in areas that we can do intervention. And that’s the last thing that we use. Let’s Go Learn for we use it for our academic intervention. The Edge program, the Edge program is great because it individualizes lessons so that the students can work on areas that they’re struggling with. So we love Let’s Go Learn and I highly, highly recommend it for your school.
